Garden View

I weeded.  Husband weeded.  I watered.  Husband watered.  And yaknow what?  My crazy little garden produced just as well without weeding and regular watering!  Naturally, the rain did help.  But the weeds?  The w-w-weeds flourished.  And yet, my tomatoes grew, peppers grew, and cucumbers, too.  Mother nature is in charge, I'm clearly not.  And I'm okay with that!

Yesterday,  I went outside with my little ones to hunt the last holdouts of the season.  The peppers are so small, but their flavor zings.  I hate tomatoes, but look forward to making the BLT's my hubby loves.  Its nature's ying and yang.  Perhaps, its why I feel peace when I'm outside?

Next year, I will plant more, more, more--simply increasing the odds of larger quantities.  I envision a garden producing so much I can share it with my family and friends and a neighbor or two.  But for now, I thank my plants for working as they did against all odds:  torrential rain, bunnies, groundhogs, bossy weeds, newbie gardener.

I'll miss the garden over the next few seasons.  But I can use that time to dream and plan out next year's garden!

Its the same thing we are doing....planning how to increase the fold from the garden next year. Move the garden, better light...all the things you said. And to learn that even green peppers have a better snap and zestiness than the store bought ones do.
Funny how we really both got into the same summer. Our Summer Gardens. Next year will be adding the fruit...I hope.
