"But, I Don't Like THAT!" Thanksgiving

When we are invited to a dinner, like this upcoming Thanksgiving gathering, I like to bring food I know my children will eat.  Having a guaranteed "go-to" side item can lessen the stress of insuring my kids eat something.  Even if its not our usual Thanksgiving fare, like mac-n-cheese, it is comforting to my children.

My son loves to try new food, my daughter can be reluctant.  So, having "Mommy's food" is particularly beneficial to her.  Naturally, I still offer other food, and typically, they will enjoy it, too.  (In Mommy World, its all about the 'back up' plan!)

Often, my children are so excited to be with family, they tend to not eat enough and then get a bit cranky because he/she hasn't had enough to eat.  After experiencing this a few times, I decided to go against my traditional thinking of not eating anything before the meal, instead letting them nibble on something healthy before we leave, or in the car as we drive to our destination.

I hope you have a wonderful food-filled, love-full, happy and fun Thanksgiving!

Melinda

I feel ya on the kids won't eat thing. In planning my first realy 'from scratch' Thanksgiving, I'm hearig alot of "I don't like that, don't make that". Can't make everyone happy I guess. haha I'm hoping they'll be so hungary that day that they will try the new food anyway and then realize they like it.
    Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
