Food for Thought
Yaknow, I've gotten too big for my britches. Thankfully, I am NOT referring to my waistline. Although truth be told, I could go without a few holiday desserts! But, what is a good New Year's celebration without the traditional resolution to lose a pound or two? Who am I to mess with fate?! But, I digress.
You see, I had big plans for offering a shopping cart function to my site, to help raise money to keep my site going and to buy supplies for the food bank. Well, factor in sick kiddies, mountainous snow, and the general demands of homeshooling, homemaking, and this 'little engine that could', nearly CAN'T!! Yeah, I'm a bit behind.
I'm running behind for typical reasons but a lot of its my fault. My craft projects, household goals, grow--with one idea blooming from another. And, well, staying on just one 'til its done, has never been my specialty. Why not, paint something, let in dry and while its drying, glue something, and while the glue's drying, go start some cookies, and while the cookies are baking, go back and paint some more? Really, if I'm not multi-tasking, I feel as if I'm not getting anything done, which just bums me out. Shoot, I even dream up projects when I'm asleep. Which means, I need to wake up and start working on something else. HA!
This is really just a roundabout rant to say, I'm bummed. I'm bummed that I haven't accomplished my food raising goals. But, it must be for some reason. And, giving up is certainly not one of them. Sadly, there is always a need to gather and give, in our country. People are hungry. Working people that are hungry. So raising money and supplies for those in need, will always be needed.
So, my food raising goals have not been tossed to the wind. It simply isn't on the same time-line, dead-line for Christmas.
Until, or perhaps in addition to, my blog has a "shopping cart" I am going to offer something completely different. In our home, we have many things that we don't need, some we don't want, some things we inherited, some things we wonder where in the world in came from in the first place, ya know? The idea is instead of paying for an item, exchange it for non-perishable food.
This huge snow (which I love and adore and hope for every winter) put my "Food For Stuff" drive, on an unintentional back-burner. But, it will not stop it from happening, one way or the other. We want to help provide food for families in need, show/teach my children how and why to give, and make space in our attic, too.
If you know me personally, please contact me if you're interested in participating. Or try something like this with your family. As prices remain high, and wages the same, and companies downsize or close, the need for basics grow. Hunger happens, to elderly, to the young, to working families, and families unable to work...
Anywho. Guess I'm rambling a bit.
Merry almost Christmas,
Melinda

Quit beating yourself up about what you don't get done! Think of all the things you do do. (did I just say, do do?) You'll ge to it and I'm looking forward to seeing it! You remind me of a busy bee, doing so many things at once. Chill...and enjoy the holidays...and the snow!
